So I’m watching a Kimerald movie on Cinema One right now. Gerald is the team captain of the school’s varsity basketball team, and Kim is his uptight, nerdy laboratory partner. For some reason they have to do an experiment that involves bringing a live rabbit everywhere they go. Suuuuure, experimeeeeent. It all gets WTF when we see them on a boat: Gerald is rowing, and Kim, well…she’s got the rabbit in her hand.
When Gerald meets up with his basketball team they’re all standing in one corner of the room with somber faces. (Their mascot is standing in the back row.) When Gerald comes into the room, someone gets up from his seat and offers it to him. He takes it. It becomes apparent that this is an intervention, and his teammates take turns telling him inane shit. Basically, they tell him they have to choose between a chick and basketball. When they’re all finished, everyone crouch, snap their fingers and chant: “Basketball. Basketball. Basketball.” (Everyone. Including the mascot.)
I love Philippine cinema.
